As coronavirus cases increase throughout the country, OMNI HSE has issued a 4-pronged plan aimed at keeping employees safe, healthy and germ-free

CARENCRO, La. – March 9, 2020 – OMNI Environmental Solution’s Health Safety and Environment team has established a coronavirus management plan, in the wake of the global coronavirus outbreak which continues to spread across the U.S. The plan is available to employees on the OMNI Now intranet and mobile app’s Coronavirus Response microsite.

“Employee health and safety is a core value at OMNI,” OMNI CEO Courtney Brackin said. “Our HSE team has worked proactively to determining a course of action that will keep employees across our U.S. locations safe as the global coronavirus outbreak continues to spread.”

The plan, which is aligned to current CDC guidelines, revolves around a four-pronged approach:

  1. Actively encourage sick employees to stay home
  2. Emphasize respiratory etiquette and hand hygiene by all employees
  3. Establish routine environmental cleaning at locations
  4. Synchronize a cohesive communication plan

Plan directives include rolling out distribution of alcohol-based hand sanitizer, no-touch disposal receptacles and facial tissue to all locations. HSE will work with facility management staff to ensure routine cleaning of all frequently touched surfaces in workplaces such as workstations, countertops, and doorknobs. Facility maintenance contractors will use standard cleaning agents and will adhere to disinfecting guidelines as outlined on product labels. Disposable disinfecting wipes are being provided so that commonly used surfaces can be wiped down by employees before each use.

Additionally, throughout all operations OMNI will be practicing physical distancing and space management.

“We are giving local teams the opportunity to contemplate work schedules and work space usage to minimize physical contact while maintaining a high level of efficiency,” Brackin said.  “OMNI will remain focused on safety as a core value while adhering to federal, state and local guidelines.”

Coronavirus Response Microsite Launched

Detailed information on HSE’s coronavirus management plan is available on the OMNI Now Coronavirus Response microsite. Additionally, locations will find news, information and other resources on the site, including printable posters to encourage employees to stay home when sick, posters and handouts providing cough and sneeze etiquette, and printable hand washing hygiene guidelines.

Regular corporate updates on OMNI’s coronavirus response will be posted OMNI Now. Any urgent communication will be disseminated through push alerts on the OMNI Now mobile app.

Managers should ensure local contact lists are updated and that they maintain accessibility to key personnel.

Travel suspension

HSE is following CDC guidelines regarding canceling or postponing nonessential travel.

According to the CDC, no areas in the U.S. are currently designated as high risk, however, four states: Washington, New York, California, and Maryland, have declared a state of emergency due to active outbreaks in areas within the states.

If you travel, the CDC recommends the following routine precautions:

  • Avoid contact with sick people.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Clean your hands often by washing them with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains 60%–95% alcohol. Use soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.
  • It is especially important to clean hands after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after coughing, sneezing or blowing your nose.
